Britain's housing stock was designed for a climate that no longer exists.

The summer of 2026 was the hottest recorded in the UK since records began in 1884, following another record-breaking year in 2025. The Met Office estimates that human-driven climate change made the 2026 summer temperatures approximately 130 times more likely.

The effect on British homes is already visible. An estimated four million UK households now have air conditioning, twice as many as three years ago. Nearly 1.9 million have installed permanent systems, demonstrating that consumers are moving beyond temporary fans and portable units towards professionally fitted residential cooling.

This is likely to be a long-term structural shift. The Climate Change Committee estimates that 92% of existing UK homes could experience overheating by 2050. It specifically identifies active cooling, including air conditioning, as increasingly necessary for homes that cannot be kept safe and comfortable through ventilation and shading alone.

Yet residential air conditioning remains a fragmented and confusing market. The UK's largest F-Gas register contains more than 11,000 certified companies, but most suppliers are small, locally focused contractors and many primarily serve commercial customers. No trusted national consumer brand currently owns the residential category.

The opportunity is to bring clarity, consistency and consumer-grade service to a market where demand is accelerating, but the customer experience remains defined by fragmented local supply.
